Sword & Shield "confident" heading into election
DELPHI – Government officials in this sparsely populated northern nation paced in their offices Monday as the region prepars to head to the polls tonight, deciding between the Armed Republic of Gaed and the Federal Republic of Sword & Sheild for a one-month term on the Dux Council.
A recently released statement from Sword & Shield’s executive office said the nation’s government is “confident” heading into the election, but maintains that the region will win no matter who the victor.
Sword & Shield has been active in efforts to campaign for the lone vancancy on the Dux Council. Six statements have been issued by the Federal Republic’s government on the regional campaign thread alone.
Among topics discussed were ways to build enhance regional growth, how to respond to matters of regional security and how to increase activity in the region.
“I believe building relations between regional nations and foreign nations will be the cornerstone of growth, as opposed to random telegram spamming and spamming the Pacific region boards,” a statement from Sword & Sheild read last week. “(Real life) and non-NS contacts will also form a third avenue of expansion for the region.”
Sword & Shield also suggested increasing Dux Milan’s presence in roleplaying forums, which would establish ties with other regions. Sword & Sheild’s opponent, Gaed, has been decidely less outspoken on the campaigning thread.
Gaed has only made one campaign statement on the thread, posted on January 14.
“We need to do more then simply telegram new users,” Gaed’s post read. “Anybody who receives are telegram probably knows what region they are going to join or is too new to know what they should be looking for.”
The Armed Republic of Gaed’s NationStates pofile has since logged seven days of inactivity.
Gaed went on to state agreement with Sword & Sheild’s proposal to increase roleplay activity. “The best way to get more members is to contact other regions and organizations, advertising ourselves as an RP region with a peoples government,” Gaed’s statement said.
Polls are set to open momentarily, according to Dux Bradford John.
