It all started several years ago, in 2003.
The people of the Dux, centered in the now Evergreen Republics, had finally embraced democracy.
After years of fighting and many casualties at heavy cost, the rebellious progressives overthrew the longstanding tyrant of the people. Jalabin was cornered in his capital palace, in Dux Milan, on January 4, 2003, and killed by soldiers of the rebellion wearing the Evergreen patch. Jalabin's forces surrendered per order of a treaty signed hours later by royal delegates of deceased Jalabin.
With arms laid down, and pain from the struggle still fresh, The Evergreen Republic of Bradfordsburg was founded from the ashes of war and named after Bradford John, the General Commander of the Evergreen Rebellion.
This new nation, claiming once-sovereign lands with youth and ambition, was led by Bradford John of the City of Sparrow. Shortly after Bradford John was elected by this republic, in spring of 2003, policies tightening regulation on business, and large increases in labor wages, were implemented. The citizens of Bradfordsburg became rich overnight.
There would be difficulties. Expatriated royalists, who had betrayed their people for a cruel tyrant, still ruled much of the countryside. Election stations were attacked. Those standing up for change feared for their safety. Still, the new republic stayed loyal to their ideals.
This new leader had seen challenges before. Bradford John's reputation as a brilliant general is impeccable. With ease and precision, the man now leading our nation commanded the rebellion against a tyrant. Now, as an overwhelming popular leader, Bradford John tried to balance the delicate role of ruling with a mandate but without impunity.
As Bradfordsburg entered a new era, the young leader struggled to find a new national identity for his country. With incomes equalized and seeking to declare the domestic strife over, Bradford John turned his attentions to foreign interests. In the late spring of 2003, Bradford John ordered the re mobilization of the Evergreen Armed Forces for an invasion of a sovereign region named Pelican.
With this attack, Bradfordsburg was able to establish power in the NationStates world and master the art of an evil practice; raiding. When the consequences of an unprovoked invasion returned to Bradfordsburg's doorstep, in the form of injured sons, the nation had enough. The people of Bradfordsburg demanded a visionary future and the idea for Sparrow was born...
